Order tree and shrub seedlings from MDC – delivery Spring 2018

Purchasing seedlings from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is a cost-effective way of adding woody plants to your native habitat.  The George O. White State Forest Nursery near Licking offers Missouri residents a variety of seedlings for reforestation, windbreaks, erosion control and wildlife habitat.

The seedlings are sold in bundles of 10+, so you may want to get together with friends to build an order.  Prices range from $0.16 to $0.80 per seedling. They won’t ship until spring, so you have time to get ready!

Ordering can be done online or by mail.

This year, the ordering period opens on September 1st, quite a bit earlier than previous years.

You’ll want to get your order in as early as you can, because not all species are available in large quantities and they may run out of the one you want.   It’s important to note that not all of the trees in the catalog are native, but the descriptions usually indicate native. Check another source like the USDA plant database if you are not sure whether a plant is native to our state.

Wild Ones has a good blog post posted on what to do when you receive your seedlings in the spring.

Even if you aren’t interested in ordering, there is a lot of good info on the MDC website and in the brochure about our native trees, especially the tree growth chart.

Tell us what you ordered!
